Karen Carr
Karen is a clinical psychologist who has had a heart for missionary care since her first missions trip to Guatemala in 1983. As a staff member of Barnabas International, she trains and equips global workers and member care staff in crisis response, pastoral care, and resilience. After completing her doctorate in clinical psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, Karen worked in forensics and community mental health for 8 years in Virginia and then lived and worked in West Africa as Clinical Director of the Mobile Member Care Team for 15 years. Now, based in Virginia along with her teammate, Darlene, she travels locally and internationally to train and consult with mission organizations. Karen is one of the authors of Trauma and Resilience, a book for missionary care, which has been translated into Korean and Spanish and is now being translated into Ukrainian.
