Lindquist Legacy Fund

It was nearly 35 years ago that our founders, Lareau and Evie Lindquist launched the ministry of Barnabas International. As a local church pastoral couple, they were challenged by a missionary family they were visiting in Colombia, South America to consider starting an organization that would provide pastoral care to missionaries around the world. For many years the work of Barnabas International was a small operation, just Lareau and Evie in ministry together with a small home office. Today we have grown to nearly 100 pastoral caregivers, serving over 150 different mission organizations around the world. Our vision has remained the same. Our core values are focused on Christ, the Word and shepherding the hearts of global workers.

Lareau and Evie have literally traveled the world providing pastoral care but recently they have found it necessary to step away from active ministry. In October of this year, Lareau officially stepped off the Board of Directors and is our first Board Member Emeritus. It’s been my joy to serve side-by-side with Lareau and Evie since 1994 at which time my wife and I joined the organization. I’ve served as his special assistant in the early days and through Lareau mentorship am now filling the role of Executive Director. Lareau and Evie’s impact on my personal and ministry life is significant…in fact I’d have to say that they have truly left their legacy on me, but more so on the global network of member care from around the world.

A legacy is a part of a person that lives on long after that person has passed away. A legacy also leaves behind the story of a person or couple is this instance…so they are not forgotten. Legacies are important pathways for the future to follow or even to be guided by in order to make better decisions in life and ministry. It is for this reason that the Barnabas Board of Directors has established the "Lindquist Legacy Fund” to honor the living legacy of Lareau and Evie’s original vision started in 1986. The Lindquist Legacy Fund is an endowment fund that will ensure that Barnabas International will continue to provide pastoral care to missionaries and their families well into the future.
